You Voted…Great! But..Why Put Down Others To Feel You Are Up?

Okay people I did it…cool. Voting is great idea. I tip my hat to all those who feel 10 ft tall by doing it and shed tears of joy for a “winning” result. I am truly all about acknowledging that dynamic…

But really attacking those that don’t vote or even those that don’t vote the same way or with the same enthusiasm  as you do does nothing to help.

The question of Why “Black” people are so nonchalant about voting litters my timeline and bothers me for two reasons…one it is a generalization that is inaccurate about the myriad of perspectives and personal values that exist within the “Black” community and also it is just a underdeveloped thought turned questions:

Why nonchalant? Hmm…let me see…Because black boys are being killed this very day with little to no urgency or action by the electoral body…because African-Americans in this country across the board suffer 2-4 times more in every poor category in this country regardless of the legacy of putting their lives on the line just to exercise a so called right to vote…hell even live with the dignity any human deserves…Yes things have changed over the last 40 year and even some during the last 4, but not for everyone…

It isn’t about what everyone else feels if you aren’t going to acknowledge it or deal with it to change it…just be encouraged by your state of mind and being then be determined to spread that wealth of spirit through your connections…people are what they are…always have been and always will be…until they are “touched” and feel connected.

There is a pathology deeper than many care to acknowledge…not an excuse, not victimhood, but a real issue that many people have to suffer with alone that looks like disenfranchisement, but is really a sense of worthlessness. Either care enough to get out and change it or stop pointing fingers…There are people who could care less if they live or die in this world you would chastise them about a vote? LoL…

What a concept!  BE a Spiritual Philanthropist not a finger pointer…open your mouth to encourage not speak down upon…

Oh yeah…”Vote or Die” people…isn’t that a bizarre and absurd message?

Is It The Shoes?!? Adidas Shackles…Slaves were quite the athletes though…right?
People are way too eager to be offended. Is it a terrible idea? Sure! Is it a tad insensitive? To those who are sensitive…Sure! Is it racist? Absolutely not! We (Black/Afro-American people specifically, but not limited) have to stop mislabeling everything that makes us uncomfortable or upset as being racist. Racism is form of psychosis where one human believes they are superior to another human based on cultural, geographic, and/or genetic differences dictated by ancestral origins of some kind.

These sneakers are a lame idea that would have came and went with very little notice if not made into something provocative, because it riled up the negro plight to extinguish the pangs and pains of slavery once and for all through social media, news broadcast, angry letters/emails and unspoken scathing remarks that may never reach the true orchestrators of the offense.

Let’s be clear. Racism is still alive and kicking. Slavery is still a scar on the psyche if not on the bodies of Black people in America. It is a real immutable issue that as a community WE deal with (or don’t deal with) every day. This truth is the exact cause from my cynicism toward a damn sneaker with plastic chains and shackles being acknowledged and associated at any level with what is really an issue.

If the silly shit keeps getting associated with the real eventually the real is logged in the objective and compassionate logical spaces of the majority mindset as silly shit…that simple…“Crying Wolf”

In a way I like the idea of these shoes making it to market and seeing who the consumers are. This would be much more telling and beneficial. If we see a rash of young men and women in the Black community wearing these sneakers it will be very evident of our collective failures to reach and cover our children in education of their self worth. There would be no guessing needed on who is lost…it would be right on their feet…just like sagging pants, gang affiliation sans education, and all other accessories of low standards.

I’m Black so that is the only voice I can speak from, so I encourage any and all of “US” to stay away from the petty pricks that come with people being predisposed to the profane and preoccupied with profit. That isn’t “Our” issue and shouldn’t be “Our” cause to fight. Our cause and fight starts in our homes, neighborhoods, and schools. If the strength of our efforts to empower our children and even ourselves to build and maintain pride in our contributions/existence in the world we live in can be so easily bruised by poor product design…then maybe that is another indicator that our efforts are sorely lacking.

So yippee Adidas discontinued the manufacturing, but in their minor losses what really have we gained? It would have been much more indicative of where the holes are that need to be plugged to see who, how and why these shackle sneaks were purchased than having them disposed of by people who had no interest in buying them…

Social Media Activism seems to be effective in expressing strong opinions no matter the facts or the fact that the root of the “issue” goes unresolved. I applaud those who speak out. I just wish it was more accurate before going viral. I guess expecting anything truly healthy to come from viral outbreaks of information is somewhat counter-intuitive. The shackles “We” need to be concerned with do not have Adidas’ logo on them and they are free of charge but may cost you some self worth. What about those shackles?

I echoed the same sentiment in a Human Race Studies class I took some years ago…Afro-American is a cultural reference looking to classify a people by identifying origins…Black is more of a sociopolitical way of self-identifying particularly as an African turned American in the US.

I choose to be Black, because I don’t identify with African ideals, culture, and principals…Yet I’m not fully integrated and comfortable as an American, because of the unaddressed history of inequities and injustices that still persist.

Black is more powerful for me, because I’m still strong and my family is still thriving even as there were attempts to destroy us and we don’t truly have a home. While at times it feel we are culturally and geographically homeless there are many cultural traditions we created under duress that have stood the test of time and have been the epitome of community. To survive Hell on Earth and come out alive is amazing, yet we still have a long ways to go as the community has shattered with the availability of new ways developed to commit forms of familial suicide.

People put job positions, politics, pussy/penis, and misguided principles before their own family…That needs to change.

MLK = Malcolm X

Without the images and the knowledge of who said it you would be more likely to place Malcolm X’s voice to these words, but MLK was a revolutionary more so than people have been lead to believe. His physical movements were non-violent, but his political and PR campaign against bigotry and ignorance was violent massacre…This is the MLK to soak into your African TO American soul. These are the words that we should arm our children with to deflect and nonsense of insecurity or attempt to be made inferior. Love it!

The MLK that’s never quoted.

lol never quoted in fucking deed

Yup. MLK went IN on whiteness.

There is obviously a different image painted of this man.

Chills. Even in the silence of a gif I can hear his voice in my mind and the message reverberates through my core.
