Lupe Fiasco’s “Bitch Bad” should be getting a lot of attention period. Great use of imagery in this video to compliment very direct, sharp and pointed lyricism. This is Lupe’s staple…he has the ability to wrap consciousness into the simplicity of what a great song is. The topic matter is of major concern and should be of major concern to all. Not just Black people or poor people, but all people. Our children are bombarded with images everyday and have to process what they all mean.

Many of these images as adults we don’t notice and have already consciously or subconsciously filed away in our minds and emotions to the point where we don’t think twice about them. We definitely don’t think enough of them to know to analyze and establish some sort of sensory armor to keep them for digesting the poisons that come with consumerism, marketing/branding, and just life. I love this video, song, message and the type of artist Lupe Fiasco continues to be.

He has a Grammy nomination for Rap Album of the year for whatever that means to people. This will be my go to song to share with young(er) people to spark conversations around self image and how they see the world they live in.

Lupe Breaksdown looking back at his old neighborhood. Powerful.

The overall point is just because you grow up in it and had to swim through it doesn’t me that when you get on the other side you have to remain in the same clothes that it is soaked into…Yes you internalize it and do what you can to change, but to hug the block and the mentality that leads no where is poison. Get out and help others gravitate to their greatness…

Stop Faking A Revolutionary Heart

Tired of the empty revolution and war talk by armchair activist!

People too damn fat to go to war!…It sounds good in theory, but people are busy joking, jerking, and jigabooing too revolt against the “system”…Most people don’t even take ownership of what goes on under their own roof, but be high on the revolution buck the system talk…GTHOH

Lupe had a get set of lyrics for this:

“It’s not a trick, nigga, it’s a trap
“Survival of the Fit” is what they aiming at
And niggas ain’t fit (nope), fat as hell (yep)
Fat in mind (yep), body fat as well”

My point is clean your house first, then your porch, steps, lawn, street and work your way out into the world…stop pump faking and put effort into your own home and mentality…then let it bleed into the community

How are you at war, but can’t read, high blood pressure, and bad a parent? There are so many real warriors out fighting…just give them their due and support them until you are ready. Don’t fake hustle your way into being a “leader”, then have all your dirt exposed on the back end…clean your house first. Tired of listening to every ex-convict, reformed gang member, wannabe Malcolm/Martin, thinking that because they shout it means something. Do the work, so the marching won’t just be a mass power walk and the petition signing won’t just be a contest of penmanship…

It is not anyone’s fault…we have to figure it out and work together to progress A CAUSE…not EVERY CAUSE…too many moving pieces and manipulative hearts in the mix to make a difference on a macro level. CLEAN YOUR HOUSE FIRST!

Had to let that out…That is all…
